Competition for the Annual Student Award for 2026. year

The Foundation “For the Serbian People and State” from Belgrade announces a public competition for the Annual Student Award for the Best Essay. The aim of the competition is to encourage students from Serbia and the Balkans to engage in creative and critical reflection on current global challenges, contemporary political and social processes, as well as the upcoming EXPO 2027 exhibition to be held in Belgrade.

The topics of the competition are:

• “Globalism and Sovereignism in the Contemporary World”

• “EXPO: The Future Has Already Begun”

Awards

Monetary prizes have been secured for the three best essays:

• First Prize – 170,000 RSD

• Second Prize – 130,000 RSD

• Third Prize – 100,000 RSD

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to undergraduate and master’s students of all academic disciplines from the Republic of Serbia, Republika Srpska, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.

Required Documentation

The following supporting documents must be submitted together with the essay:

• Form 1

• Form 2

• A photocopy of the student’s ID card or passport (electronic ID card extract accepted)

• Certificate of enrollment issued by the faculty/university

Essay Submission Guidelines

When preparing the essay, applicants are required to comply with the following rules:

• The essay must be written in the Serbian Cyrillic script;

• The essay must be prepared in Microsoft Word, using Times New Roman font, size 12, justified alignment, with 1.15 line spacing;

• The essay must not be publicly published prior to the conclusion of the competition;

• The essay may contain a maximum of 3,000 words;

• The essay must be theoretically grounded and academically substantiated.

Application deadline

The essay and all accompanying documentation must be submitted electronically no later than June 10, 2026, via email to office@fondacijasnd.rs. Applications submitted after the specified deadline will not be taken into consideration.

Selection process

The best essays will be selected by members of an expert jury panel. The ranking list will be published on June 25, 2026, on the website of the Foundation “For the Serbian People and State”.
