On 3rd April, 110 years were marked since death of Serbian painter Nadežda Petrović. On that occasion, in Gallery ’73 in Banovo brdo, Foundation “For Serbian People and State” organized the promotion of Ljubica Miljković’s book entitled “On Serbian Art, with Love – Volume 1. The book covers feature Nadežda Petrović’s painting “Gračanica – Kosovo peonies”. The guests enjoyed piano music, while Nikola Kosovo, art historian and former curator of Belgrade’s National Museum, Professor Oliver Tomić, PhD, art historian, and Vesna Bašić, editor of the book, addressed the audience with words of support.

Vesna Bašić, editor of the book, particularly emphasized the importance of this publishing venture and pointed to the relevance of preserving cultural heritage and national identity. “Happy nations have preserved their museums, libraries and archives in the form they were initially founded. Happy nations have not taken their national museums, libraries and archive material along to battlefields, and their books and archives have not been captured, plundered, confiscated, burned and destroyed by enemies. That is why the publishing venture of Foundation “For Serbian People and State” is a real feat. Only the written word remains. It lasts forever. Even in a thousand years, when it is found silent on the paper, that word will speak. The letter on the paper is an unusual seed. It will germinate from the paper after a thousand years and bloom into the sound and the word” , Bašić pointed out.

The book “About Serbian Art, with Love” is one of the most important publishing ventures of Foundation “For Serbian People and State”, and with its rich content it preserves the memory of cultural heritage and the historical figures whose work has had a profound influence on Serbian art.

At the end of the evening, Ljubica Miljković, the author of the book, expressed gratitude to all those who participated in the production of this work and contributed to its success. She highlighted the meaning of both the first and the next volume, which is currently being prepared and expected to be published in the near future.

The first volume of the book is available in the bookshops of Službeni glasnik, while its electronic version, together with other editions of the Foundation, is available on the official website of the Foundation within Special Editions.
