Round Table “Importance of Cultural Institutions in the Building of National and State Identity”
The preservation of culture, tradition and national identity are extremely important issues for every state and the goals towards which the Foundation “For Serbian People and State” has aspired ever since its incorporation. Raising awareness of the Serbian national identity, the overview of the current situation regarding cultural institutions in the Republic of Serbia, as well as the results achieved in the field of culture are only some of the topics discussed at the round table of the Foundation held on 3rd June 2022, entitled “Importance of Cultural Institutions in the Building of National and State Identity”. This topic was discussed from the aspect of art, but also the challenges faced by the authorities of the City of Belgrade in relation to culture, by Dejan Savić, music conductor, Bojana Borić Brešković, MA, Director of the National Museum, Jelena Medaković, Director of the Museum of the City of Belgrade, Nenad Jović, Director of the Theatre “Bora Stanković” in Vranje, Ivan Karl, Secretary for Culture of the City of Belgrade, and Goran Vesić, Deputy Mayor of the City of Belgrade. The participants particularly emphasized great progress in decentralization in relation to culture, and larger than ever investments in this field.
