First Sretenje Gathering

“Is There Freedom without the State”
28 February 2024

The “First Sretenje Gathering”, the scientific gathering about the topic “Is There Freedom without the State”, was held in Belgrade on 28 February 2024 and attended by a large number of historians, academicians, students and other eminent guests.

Serbian statehood, the importance and role of the Sretenje Constitution, our tradition, democracy and culture were spoken about by Professor Dragutin Avramović, PhD, from the Faculty of Law, the University of Novi Sad, and Professor Miša Stojadinović, PhD, scientific advisor from the Institute for Political Studies, as well as Professor Aleksandar Rastović, PhD, scientific advisor from the Institute of History in Belgrade.

The moderator of the panel which attracted special attention of the professional public was Nikola Selaković, member of the Presidency of the Serbian Progressive Party.

This is the first in the series of Sretenje Gatherings we will organize every year in the cities throughout our country, with the aim of speaking about important topics from Serbian history and society. It is our idea and wish to establish Sretenje Gatherings as a specific example of good practice and good customs.

In this way, our Foundation will try to become familiar with the broader community, people who are politically active, people who strongly defend and improve everything that constitutes the national, cultural Serbian identity, everything that strengthens our nation’s statehood, so that those values are supported through organization of events like this.
