A tradition that has lasted for more than two decades continues this year. On the occasion of the birth of one of the most important Serbian composers — Stanislav Binicki, the 21st art colony is being held in his birthplace, as part of the musical event “Days of Stanislav Binicki”, which was supported this July by the Foundation “For the Serbian People and State”.
Artists, academic painters from different parts of Serbia, are creating works inspired by the environment in which Binicki grew up — the port of the Church of St. Procopius where he was baptized, the shore of the Morava where, according to tradition, he developed his hearing, as well as the courtyard of the school that today bears his name.
The colony officially began its work today, while an exhibition of the resulting works will be opened on the composer’s birthday, July 27, in the port of the church.
Lidija Užarević, president of the Stanislav Binicki Cultural and Artistic Association, addressed the attendees, emphasizing the pride of the people of Jasika in this event, which represents a “small debt to our Binicki”.
On Sunday, in the courtyard of the Stanislav Binicki Elementary School, flowers will be laid at the bust of this great artist, after which the evening will be complemented by a musical event and program – an artistic tribute to the work and legacy of Stanislav Binicki.
The Foundation “For the Serbian People and State” is proud to support this event for the second year in a row, aware of the importance of preserving the national cultural heritage and cherishing the memory of creators who have made an immeasurable contribution to Serbian art.
