On 15th September, the Foundation “For Serbian People and State” and numerous representatives of culture and institutions from Serbia and Japan celebrated Serbia’s National Day – the Day of Serb Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag.
The performance of the national anthem was attended by Aleksandar Vučić, President of the Republic of Serbia and Ito Yoshitaka, Japanese Minister for the World EXPO 2025, who together addressed the guests and emphasized the importance and relevance of the diplomatic relations lasting more than 140 years. After their address, Serbia’s cultural program was presented and then the guests visited the Serbian pavilion and attended the cocktail party.
We are proud to say that within the celebration of the National Day, our special edition was also presented – “Pokondirena tikva” by Jovan Sterija Popović, the first Serbian classic in a bilingual format (Serbian and Japanese), printed on rice paper.
This unique edition, resulting from the cooperation of the Foundation “For Serbian People and State” and the Association “Hanami”, symbolizes the encounter of cultures and the power of the written word as a bridge between Serbia and Japan..
