Foundation “For the Serbian People and State” donates Russian books worth almost one million dinars to the University Library “Svetozar Marković”

The Foundation „For the Serbian People and State” continues investing in education and science, this time by donating valuable books to the University Library Svetozar Marković” in Belgrade. The library will add 154 books in Russian to its fund. The titles include the works from the fields of history, psychology, philosophy, poetry, medicine, culture and security, while the authors include outstanding thinkers such as Dugin, Sorokin, Gilinsky, Bakhtin, Lapushin, Guskova and Chekhov.

The Donation Agreement was formally signed today by Tatjana Vukić, Director of the Foundation, and Aleksandar Jerkov, Head of the University Library “Svetozar Marković”.
It is our pleasure that the Foundation “For the Serbian People and State” is able to contribute to the enrichment of the fund of one of the most important libraries in the state. We strategically support education and science in Serbia through various programs and initiatives, such as granting student scholarships and annual awards for essays, publishing activities of the journal “Napredak”; organizing scientific panels and conferences, while today’s donation is part of those activities. We believe that investing in education, as well as in libraries, creates strong foundations for the future, inspiring new generations to research, learn and cherish love towards the written word” , said Tatjana Vukić.

Aleksandar Jerkov thanked the Foundation „For the Serbian People and State” for its valuable donation.

“The library is a haven for books which we all look forward to when a donation of books arrives, particularly of foreign books missing in our country, while libraries, even the University Library, lack even a small annual budget for the acquisition of those books. We particularly need foreign monographs necessary for the development of social sciences. That is why the book donation with selected titles we have received today is a contribution to resolving this problem. We believe that there will be more donations like this from different sources and that the annual budget problem will be soon resolved in line with the possibilities and funds. We would like to express our greatest gratitude for the books”, Jerkov pointed out.

The Foundation “For the Serbian People and State” will continue its projects which improve the development of thought, science and literature and, accordingly, in the oncoming days it will organize activities at the Book Fair in Belgrade, as well as the panel “The Future of Science” in Novi Sad.
