In the archives of the University Library in Belgrade it is possible to find evidence that as early as 1844 there were writings in the old Serbian language about events in Mexico and the interest in this country.

Strong friendship and understanding of the two nations were formalized by the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations of 24th May 1946, when the President of Mexico Manuel Avila Camacho and Marshal Josip Broz Tito, the President of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, made this cooperation official.

Iran’s approach in its diplomatic relations with Serbia is long-standing and of strategic character, based on the respect for mutual specific characteristics, but also on the strong understanding and need for an ever-stronger cooperation.

The long history of friendship has been forged in the fires of great wars and crises for more than a century, with the intensive diplomatic relations lasting for 85 years.

Not a single unresolved problem in mutual relations is the indicator of the quality of correct cooperation, with the priority of its deepening and directing towards the spheres of politics, economy, science, education, culture and sports.
